Description and habitats

This area of uncultivated and undisturbed land beside the river Tywi has an interesting range of habitats. As well as the river itself, there are large areas of shingle. On the river bank there is scrub and scattered mature trees, mainly alder and oak.

Directions

On the A40 between Llandeilo and Llandovery, look for the sign for the railway station opposite the village of Llanwrda. Turn there and follow the road to the station where there are some parking spaces just before the level crossing at SN715311. There are rail and bus services (service 280/281) to Llanwrda. Walk over the level crossing and through the gate ahead of you. Go through another gate on your left and continue along the muddy path to the riverside, bearing left where the path forks. This route is a right of way.

Facilities for visitors

None in the immediate vicinity but Llanwrda village is nearby. The site is unsuitable for people who have restricted mobility.
