c) Bird Report 2008/2009
The Secretary reported that the report has been well received.
5) AGM Arrangements The AGM takes place on the 20th October at 7.30 at WWT Wales Penclacwydd. It is followed by a Speaker who will be Dr Ziggy Otto of CCW and his subject will be the 'Burry Inlet: a larder for all great and small'.
Owen will mail all members with the notice, agenda and minutes of last year’s meeting by mid September. Julie will provide the labels and Wendell help with the envelope stuffing.
6) Support for the BTO Office in Wales
Terry Wells had raised the issue at the last meeting and in his absence it was decided to carry this item forward to the next meeting.
7) Report of the County Recorder
Few rarity reports have been received. Given the time of year the Snow Goose report from Cilsan cannot be considered to be that of a genuine wild bird.
8) Programme of Meetings
Recent local meetings have proved successful. Ten attended the Carmel Reserve meeting and its success makes it worth repeating next year perhaps at two different seasons. The Tern watch proved even more of a success with 19 present and 133 Sandwich, 4 Common and one Arctic Terns seen along with 10 Mediterranean Gulls. Full information is available on the club web site and in the Newsletter as usual.
9) Secretary’s Report
This was covered in the section Matters Arising
10) Newsletter
This is completed for the Autumn edition and will be forwarded to Owen for mailing..
12) Treasurer’s Report
In the absence of the Treasurer an interim statement of accounts to 31st August was presented to the meeting. There has been little change in the overall financial situation though the cost of the 2008 / 2009 has ben met. The Club is solvent and with assets of 2,241.30 more than able to meet future demands.
13) Website
The feeling that the website continues to function smoothly and our thanks are due to the Webmaster, Mark Newton.
14) AOB
Wendell reported on the completion of the distribution of the 2008 / 2009 Report, confirming that 2 copies had been sent to the BTO, and single copies to the RSPB the British Library and the National Library of Wales. Aberglasney, the National Botanic Gardens, Cilgerran Reserve, Penclacwydd and Pembrey Country Park had taken copies on a sale or return basis.
