1) Apologies for absence. These were received from Terry Wells and Geraldine Rees 2) Minutes of the meeting held on 19th August 2010 These were approved with one small amendment 3) Approval of minutes for posting on the website. These were approved for posting save for four small omissions. 4) Matters arising not in the main agenda. There were none
As nothing further had been heard concerning any appeal and John Lloyd has passed nothing on it was decided that this matter should not be pursued. 6) County Bird Recorders Report Now that the process of the writing of the Bird Report has been successfully established the Recorder raised the question as to how and in what form the County Records were to be maintained. The point was made that the Bird Report in one sense is the repository of County Records but the question remains as to whether there should be an additional database. The issue was not resolved though members were asked to give the matter further though. In the meantime the Recorder undertook to provide a database for the current year to be completed as soon after January 1st as possible. The request for records in the light of a development proposal for the land adjoining Carmarthen Farmers premises in Carmarthen was noted. No-one was aware of any significant records. 7) Programme of meetings. The success of the AGM both in attracting a record attendance of 44 and in terms of the authoritative and most interesting talk by Ziggy Otto which stimulated much discussion was referred to. There was also a good attendance at the following talk by Bob Heycock. The form of the programme for the New Year was discussed with interest and details will be in the newsletter and on the website as usual. 8) Secretary’s Report The Secretary had nothing new to report. 9) Newsletter This is nearing readiness for publication. The Secretary agreed to provide a contribution on the AGM and the subsequent talk along with the most recent UKBS Report for October. It was noted that the National Library of Wales have asked for past and future copies of our Newsletter.
10) Treasurer’s Report In the Treasurer’s absence no report was received though the continuing good financial health of the Club was noted. A quarterly financial report is circulated with these minutes. 11) Club Website. It was noted that on the Sightings (New) page of the site, some sightings appear to be missing when a species summary is retrieved. Discussion mentioned one or two difficulties in posting records so the Chairman and Vice Chairman undertook to discuss with the webmaster the possibility of one system of record entry made as simple as possible for people to enter records. 12) Any Other Business There was none
